WestJet 737 MAX 10 Seat Guide: What to Expect (2026)
Preview guide. When this guide was written (October 2026), the WestJet 737 MAX 10 was not yet flying passengers; WestJet expects it in service from early 2027. Everything below is what WestJet has announced or what has been reported, and we say which is which. There are no row numbers yet because WestJet has not published a MAX 10 seat map. We will add a row-by-row seat map to this page when the aircraft enters service. If a seat map with a Premium cabin running past row 32 shows up in your booking, you are already on one.
✈️ Quick Verdict
Aircraft: Boeing 737 MAX 10, the longest 737 — about 14ft (4.3m) longer than the MAX 8
Status: FAA certified on 20 October 2026. WestJet is the launch customer and expects entry into service in early 2027, once Transport Canada has also approved the aircraft.
Announced cabin: 199 seats and four lavatories. WestJet has not said how the seats are split between cabins.
Dropped plan: 212 seats — 12 Premium, 200 economy, three lavatories
WestJet’s newest 737 cabin: Premium 2-2 recliners, Extended Comfort with recline, standard economy with fixed recline. Not yet confirmed for the MAX 10.
Seat map: not published. No rows or seat numbers are confirmed yet.
The catch: the biggest WestJet 737 was planned as the most crowded
A bigger aircraft sounds like more room. WestJet’s first MAX 10 plan went the other way. As reported in 2025, it fitted 212 seats into the longer cabin: 12 Premium and 200 economy, with three lavatories for all of them, one for Premium and two for everyone else. The extra length would have gone mostly to more economy rows.
In February 2026, WestJet changed course. It said the MAX 10 would have a 199-seat layout and four lavatories, and that the rest of the layout would be decided once the aircraft was certified. That is 13 fewer seats and one more lavatory than the original plan. WestJet has not said where the fourth lavatory goes or which cabin loses the seats.
The second thing to watch is recline. On WestJet’s newest 737 cabin, standard economy seats have fixed recline: they are set at a slight angle and do not move. Premium and Extended Comfort still recline. WestJet has not said which economy seat the MAX 10 gets. If it is the same seat, Extended Comfort will be the only reclining economy seat on the aircraft.

What WestJet has said about the cabin
| MAX 10 — first plan | MAX 10 — announced | MAX 8 with Premium | MAX 8 all-economy | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seats | 212 | 199 | 174 or 180 | 189 |
| Premium | 12 (2-2) | Not announced | 12 (2-2) | None |
| Lavatories | 3 | 4 | — | — |
| Rows on the seat map | Not published | Not published | 1–30 | 1–32 |
Under the first plan, 54 of the economy seats were to be sold as Extended Comfort: the first six economy rows plus three exit rows. WestJet has not repeated those figures for the 199-seat layout.
What to expect when you book
Premium
On WestJet’s newest 737s, Premium is 12 Collins MiQ recliners in a 2-2 layout over three rows. It is the same seat as Premium on WestJet’s 787. Each Premium seat has an AC socket and USB-C charging. The first MAX 10 plan had this same 12-seat cabin. WestJet has not yet confirmed it for the 199-seat version.
Extended Comfort
Extra-legroom economy seats at the front of economy and in the exit rows, behind a divider from standard economy. On the newest cabin they keep a normal recline. On a longer 737 the exit rows matter more than usual: the row just in front of an exit usually cannot recline, so check where your exit-row seat sits before you pay for it.
Economy
Six across, 3-3. The extra length of the MAX 10 is extra economy rows, so the back of the cabin is further from the front than on any other WestJet 737. Four lavatories should mean shorter queues than the three-lavatory plan would have given. Until the seat map is out, the usual rules apply: avoid the last rows next to the rear lavatories and galley, and check whether your seat reclines.
Wi-Fi and entertainment
WestJet has fitted free Starlink Wi-Fi for WestJet Rewards members across nearly all of its 737-800s and MAX 8s. Its 737s have no seatback screens; you stream to your own device. WestJet has not yet confirmed Wi-Fi or power for the MAX 10.
How to tell if you’re on a MAX 10
Check these in order:
- The aircraft type on the booking page. Look for “737 MAX 10” or “737-10”. “737 MAX 8” or “737-8” is the smaller jet.
- The seat count. Around 199 seats is a MAX 10. A WestJet MAX 8 has 174 or 180 seats with Premium, or 189 seats with no Premium at all.
- The last row number. A WestJet MAX 8 with Premium ends at row 30, and the all-economy MAX 8 at row 32. A seat map with a Premium cabin at the front and economy running past row 32 is not a MAX 8.
- Check again close to departure. WestJet may swap in a MAX 8 while MAX 10 deliveries build up. If the seat map gets shorter, your seat may have moved.
If your flight is swapped to a MAX 8
- The MAX 8 has fewer rows, so a high row number on a MAX 10 booking cannot transfer seat-for-seat. Check your new seat after any aircraft change.
- Our WestJet 737 MAX 8 guide covers all four MAX 8 layouts row by row.
