The trap: the business window seat

Edelweiss’s current A350 business cabin is lie-flat, but it is laid out 2-2-2: A C | D G | H K. Only the four seats on the aisles in each row — C, D, G and H — have direct access, and the window seats A and K are boxed in. To get up at night you step over the person in C or H, or they step over you.

For a couple, the window pair is fine. For anyone travelling alone, it is the seat to avoid. The centre D and G seats are rated green on every row: each has its own aisle, and the pair is the best way to sit together without blocking anyone in. C and H are the solo fallback, at the cost of being stepped over.

This changes with the new cabin. From December 2026, Edelweiss begins flying A350s with 1-2-1 business, where every seat has its own aisle. Until your aircraft is converted, the 2-2-2 rule applies.

Which cabin will you get?

The first A350 with the new cabin enters service in December 2026, on flights to Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, Windhoek and Halifax. The rest of the fleet is converted one aircraft at a time through summer 2027. Until then, most Edelweiss A350 flights still use the current cabin.

The seat map tells you at a glance. If business ends at row 5 and is six seats across, you are on the current cabin. If business runs to row 8 and is four across, followed by a Premium Economy cabin at rows 10–14, you are on the new one.

Current cabin: economy

Economy Max, rows 20 to 26, has about 33in of pitch against roughly 30in in the rest of the cabin, with more recline. Rows 21 and 22 are the pick: every seat in both rows is rated green, windows included. Rows 23 to 26 are almost as good, though the window seats there are not rated as highly, and 26A and 26K have the window set behind the seat.

Row 20 is the bulkhead, and the legroom is not even across the row. The outer blocks, 20A–20C and 20H–20K, have about 36in to the wall, but the centre 20D, 20F and 20G have closer to 31–32in. Every seat in row 20 has no underseat storage and the tray in the armrest, and all are rated yellow. For legroom, row 21 behind it is the better buy.

Two seats have no window: 31A, over the wing, and 40K, in the door-3 exit row. 40K has the exit-row legroom, but the door curves into it and the view is a wall. 40A, opposite, has a poor window and the same door intrusion. 40B, 40C, 40H and 40J are the cleaner exit-row seats.

Avoid rows 36 to 38, directly behind the over-wing lavatory block. 36H to 36K and all of rows 37 and 38 are rated red. At the back, 53A–53C, 54A–54D and 55D sit beside the rear lavatory.

New cabin: what changes

Business moves to 1-2-1 staggered lie-flat seats, with direct aisle access from every seat and four suites in the front row. Every seat except 8D and 8G is rated green; those two have the galley directly behind them. In the even-numbered rows the A and K seats sit right against the window, the best choice for a solo traveller.

Premium Economy is new to Edelweiss: 28 recliners in a 2-3-2 layout at rows 10, 11, 12 and 14, with roughly a metre of legroom. Row 10 is the bulkhead, and 10A, 10C, 10H and 10K sit directly behind the lavatories and are rated red. Row 11’s A, C, H and K catch the queue. Row 14, the last row of the cabin, is the quietest, and 12C to 12H are good too.

Economy stays 3-3-3, with slightly more legroom than today. The best seats are 20B and 20J: the bulkhead row has seven seats rather than nine, so both have no neighbour on one side, and both are rated green. Row 21 has about 34in. 21C and 21H have no seat in front of them at all, which means legroom but no underseat storage. Avoid 29A, 29K, 34A and 34K, which have no usable window — 34 is the door-3 row, so the legroom comes without a view — and rows 31–33 and 47–49, beside the lavatories.

Frequently asked questions

Does Edelweiss A350 business class have aisle access from every seat?

Not on the current cabin, which is 2-2-2: the window seats A and K have to step past the seat beside them. The new 1-2-1 cabin, entering service from December 2026, gives every seat its own aisle access.

What is Economy Max on Edelweiss?

Edelweiss’s extra-legroom economy, at rows 20 to 26 on the current A350, with about 33in of pitch and extra recline. Row 21 or 22 is the best choice; row 20 is a bulkhead with uneven legroom and no underseat storage.

Does the Edelweiss A350 have Wi-Fi?

Not on the current cabin. The new cabin, from December 2026, has free Starlink Wi-Fi for all passengers.

Which Edelweiss A350 seats have no window?

On the current cabin, 31A and 40K. On the new cabin, 29A, 29K, 34A and 34K.

Does the Edelweiss A350 have Premium Economy?

Only the new cabin does: 28 seats in a 2-3-2 layout, arriving with the first converted aircraft in December 2026. The current cabin has business and economy only, with Economy Max as the extra-legroom option.
