The Three A321neo Configurations
Config A — 222-seat all-Economy (32Q Type 1)
Roughly 15 aircraft. 30" seat pitch — notably more spacious than the rest of IndiGo's narrowbody fleet, which typically runs 28-29". No Business Class, no IFE, no power, no WiFi, but the extra pitch is genuinely felt on a three-hour sector. If you're choosing blind, this is the A321neo config to hope for.
Config B — 232-seat high-density (32Q Type 2)
The dominant A321neo config at ~104 aircraft, making it the most likely draw on any given IndiGo A321neo flight. Features the newer Recaro BL3710 slimline seat at the tighter 28-29" pitch common across IndiGo's fleet. Modest recline, no power outlets, no IFE. The slim Recaro seat product is lighter and slightly more ergonomic at the same pitch, but the extra 10 rows of density mean this is the least comfortable of the three configs.
Config C — IndiGoStretch (12C/208Y — 32Q Type 3)
The premium config. 13 aircraft in service as of early 2026, with 45 total planned. This is IndiGo's first-ever Business Class product — IndiGoStretch — which launched 14 November 2024 on the Delhi-Mumbai route and has since expanded. Twelve Recaro R5 recliner seats in 2-2 at the front; 208 Recaro R2 seats in 3-3 Economy behind. Economy Class row 18 has increased pitch at 35" (exit row). No WiFi, no IFE in Economy.

- For paying Business travellers: IndiGoStretch (Type 3) — at ₹18,018+ it's the only IndiGo A321neo with a premium cabin.
- For Economy legroom: Config A (Type 1) — the 30" pitch beats both the 28-29" on Config B and the 28.5" on IndiGoStretch Economy.
- For IndiGo's metro business travellers: The IndiGoStretch routes (Delhi-Mumbai/Bengaluru/Chennai) give you a choice — pay for Business, or take IndiGoStretch Economy for a recliner at slightly tighter pitch.
- If you can't influence aircraft selection: odds favour Config B (232Y, 120 of 183 airframes). Prepare for a tight cabin.

- Row 1 (1A-F) — Bulkhead. Enhanced knee space but close to the forward galley and lavatory — expect noise and crew traffic during service transitions.
- Row 17 (17A-F) — First overwing exit row. Extra legroom. Does not recline — the exit row behind locks its recline.
- Row 18 (18A-F) — Second overwing exit row. Extra legroom AND full recline preserved. The pick of the cabin on Config A.
- Row 27 (27A-F) — the hidden gem for legroom: it is the rear exit row on this config, with far more space than the pitch figure suggests. Two real trade-offs, and the first is worse than the guide previously said: 27A and 27F have no window at all — not a misaligned one, a blank stretch of wall — and nothing on the booking map flags it. 27B to 27E get the legroom without that. There is also a cool draft from the nearby exits.

- Rows 16 and 26 — Not all seats in these rows recline. Worth checking the seat map before selecting.

- Check the seat map at booking, and count to the last row — it identifies all four. IndiGoStretch (220) shows a distinct Business cabin in the first three rows, Economy starts at row 4, there is no row 27 and the cabin ends at 39. Config A (222) runs rows 1 to 37 with every row a full six seats. Config B (232) runs to 39 with a four-seat row 28. The fourth cabin (236) runs to 41, skips row 13, and ends with a three-seat row of 41A, 41B and 41C.
- Route heuristics. Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Bengaluru and Delhi-Chennai are all-Stretch routes — guaranteed IndiGoStretch aircraft. Other IndiGo A321neo sectors heavily lean toward Config B (the fleet majority). Config A is a rare draw.
- IndiGo booking engine. Tickets on all-Stretch routes display the Business Class fare class alongside Economy. If the booking shows Business Class availability, you're on a Type 3 aircraft.
