⚠️ The trap: the best legroom in Economy has no window
Row 20 is the front row of Economy and it has the most generous bulkhead legroom on the aircraft — about 72cm (29in) to the wall ahead. On a booking map it looks like the obvious prize. But 20A and 20K have no window at all: the seat sits against blank fuselage, not glass. Take the legroom if you want it, but book 20B or 20J if daylight matters, and be aware the whole row has its tray table and screen in the armrest, so the seat itself is narrower.
Business Class — rows 8 to 15
EgyptAir fits B/E Aerospace Minipod seats in a 2-3-2 layout, 49 seats across seven rows. Row 13 does not exist. This is a dense business cabin by 777 standards, and the trade-off is direct aisle access: in a 2-3-2 the centre seat of the middle block (E) is boxed in on both sides, and the window seats A and K sit behind C and H respectively.
A galley and lavatory block splits the cabin between rows 11 and 12, so rows 8 to 11 form a forward mini-cabin and rows 12 to 15 a rear one.
- 8A and 8K — front row, extra room ahead at the bulkhead, and the best window alignment in the cabin.
- 15A and 15K — the quietest pair, at the back of the rear mini-cabin and furthest from both galleys.
- Avoid 12E, 14E and 15E if you value getting out without disturbing anyone — the centre seat of a 2-3-2 has no aisle of its own.
- Rows 11 and 12 sit either side of the mid-cabin galley and lavatory block.
Economy Class — rows 20 to 55
The 35-inch block almost nobody notices
This is the most useful thing on the aircraft. Rows 21 to 25, seats A, B and C only, carry roughly 35in of pitch — about 3in more than the rest of the cabin. The equivalent seats on the right-hand side and in the centre do not. It is a left-side-only block, it is not branded, and it is not priced differently. If you are travelling alone and want the extra room without paying for it, this is the single best answer on an EgyptAir 777-300ER — as long as you pick the right seat within it.
The block is not uniform, though, and several of its fifteen seats are compromised. 23A has no window at all, 21A has a window set behind the seat, the whole of row 24 picks up lavatory traffic from behind, and rows 25 and 26 sit immediately in front of the lavatory bank. That leaves 22A, and the B and C seats in rows 21, 22 and 23, as the seven seats that deliver the extra pitch with nothing attached.
Windowless and misaligned seats
Six Economy seats have no window at all: 20A, 20K, 23A, 28A, 28K and 42K. A further two, 21A and 42A, have a window set behind the seat, so you lean back to see out. Note that 23A is inside the 35in block — the pitch is real, the view is not.
Rows and blocks that are not what they look like
- Rows 27 and 41 seat the centre block only (D, E and G). The side positions are taken by the exit doors, so these are exit-row seats with extra room but nothing beside you.
- Rows 54 and 55 seat only A, C, H and K — the tail has narrowed and the centre block is gone. Row 55 does not recline.
- Rows 39, 40 and 52 to 55 are all lavatory or galley adjacent. Row 40 has limited recline on all nine seats.
Best of the ordinary Economy rows: 29 to 38 are the quietest stretch of the cabin — no lavatory, no galley, no exit door, and full recline throughout. 43 to 51 are the next best.
