A330-200: Discover’s A330-200s leave the fleet at the end of October 2026 and are not covered here.

The catch: the best economy rows are not at the front

Discover’s most common A330-300 has a block of extra pitch hiding in the middle of the economy cabin. Rows 19, 20 and 21 are spaced at about 35in — four inches more than the rows around them — and they are the best economy seats on the aircraft. The first economy rows, 16 and 18, have bulkhead legroom, but most of those seats have no floor storage and a tray in the armrest.

Premium Economy has the opposite problem. Row 10, its bulkhead, sits directly behind the lavatories, so the front row of the cabin you paid extra for is the worst one in it. Take row 11.

And check which A330 you are on. Two aircraft, D-AFYQ and D-AFYR, have a different Business cabin with throne seats and a different economy layout, and every row number shifts.

Business, 285-seat layout (rows 1–5)

30 lie-flat seats in a 2-2-2, lettered A C | D G | H K, with a bed of about 6.5ft. The centre seats D and G each have their own aisle; the window seats A and K step past C or H.

Best Business seats (285)

  • 1D, 1G, 2D, 2G — centre seats with their own aisle, at the front of the cabin.
  • 2A + 2C, 2H + 2K — window pairs for a couple.

Business seats to note (285)

  • Any A or K seat as a solo traveller — you climb over a stranger to reach the aisle.

Business, 302-seat layout (rows 1–6)

27 lie-flat seats in a staggered layout that alternates by row:

  • Odd rows (1, 3, 5): A | D G | K. A and K are throne seats, alone between two side tables.
  • Even rows (2, 4, 6): A C | D G | K. A steps past C; K is a single seat at the window.

Best Business seats (302)

  • 1A, 1K, 3A, 3K, 5A, 5K — throne seats.
  • 2K, 4K — single seats against the window.
  • 2A + 2C, 4A + 4C — the pairs, for a couple.

Business seats to avoid (302)

  • 6A, 6K — the last row, with a lavatory directly behind.
  • 6D — the galley is directly behind.

Premium Economy

A 2-3-2, lettered A C | D E G | H K. On the 285-seat aircraft it is rows 10–14 (no row 13); on the 302-seat aircraft rows 7–11, with a centre trio in row 7.

Best Premium Economy seats

  • 11A, 11K (285) — the best windows in the cabin, one row behind the lavatories.
  • 11A + 11C, 12H + 12K (285) — window pairs for a couple.
  • 10A + 10C, 11H + 11K (302) — window pairs at the back of the cabin, with floor storage.

Premium Economy seats to avoid

  • Row 10 on the 285-seat aircraft — directly behind the lavatories.
  • 9A, 9K on the 302-seat aircraft — the window sits behind the seat.

Economy

A 2-4-2 at about 31in of pitch: every window seat is half of a pair, which makes the A330 one of the best economy cabins for a couple. Door 3 splits the cabin, with a block of lavatories in front of it.

Economy seats to avoid

  • Rows 27–28 (285) or 24–26 (302) — in front of the door 3 lavatories.
  • 30A, 30K (285) or 28A, 28K (302) — legroom behind door 3, but the door curves into it and the lavatories are just ahead.
  • 42A, 42K (285) — the window sits behind the seat.

Ocean Blue: the new cabin from April 2027

Discover is refitting its A330-300s with a new cabin called Ocean Blue. The first aircraft is due in service in April 2027 and the whole fleet by mid-2028. The layout is 288 seats: 30 Business, 31 Premium Economy and 227 Economy. The map above is preliminary.

  • Business: a 1-2-1 with direct aisle access from every seat. Odd rows put the single seats beside the aisle (C and H); even rows put them against the window (A and K).
  • Premium Economy: a 2-3-2 in rows 10–15. 15A and 15K have no window.
  • Economy: a 2-4-2 in rows 20–50.

How to tell which version you’re on

Look at Business on the seat map. Five rows of six, A C | D G | H K: the 285-seat aircraft. Six rows that alternate four and five seats: the 302-seat aircraft. Eight rows of four, every seat on an aisle: Ocean Blue.
