Aer Lingus A330-200 Seat Selection Guide (2026)
✈️ Quick Verdict
Aircraft: Airbus A330-200 — three aircraft with 266, 273 or 281 seats; 23 business on all three
Layout: business 1-2-1 lie-flat, rows 2–6 · economy 2-4-2 (A C | D E F G | H K), narrowing to 2-3-2 at the tail
Version lottery: Yes — every aircraft has a different economy plan. The last economy row tells you which: 42 (EI-DAA), 43 (EI-DUO) or 44 (EI-GEY)
Best seats: the rear window pairs — 36A/36K (EI-DAA), 37A/37K (EI-DUO), 39A/39K (EI-GEY), each about 33in · business: solo A seats
Seats to avoid: the seats around the mid-cabin lavatories, which move: rows 26–28 (EI-DAA), 28–30 (EI-DUO, EI-GEY) · 16A/16K on EI-GEY (no window)
Wi-Fi: Ku-band satellite · Screens: seatback on demand throughout
The trap: one aircraft type, three seat maps
Most version lotteries split a fleet into two or three groups of aircraft. Aer Lingus’s A330-200 lottery is more extreme: there are only three of them, and each one has its own economy layout. Business is identical. Behind it, the lavatories, the bulkhead rows and even the windows fall in different places.
That means advice written for “the Aer Lingus A330-200” can be exactly wrong for your flight. A few examples:
| Seat | EI-DAA (266) | EI-DUO (273) | EI-GEY (281) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Row 29 | Bulkhead legroom behind the lavatories | Red — directly beside the lavatories | 29F–29K red |
| Row 30 | Normal economy row | Bulkhead and door row, extra legroom | 30A no window; 30F/30G red |
| 16A / 16K | Normal window | Window out of line with the seat | No window |
| Row 12 | Centre seats have no seat in front | Bassinet bulkhead; 12G–12K red | Bassinet bulkhead |
| Last rows | Row 42 is fine | 41H–43K red | Rows 43–44 red |
| Best window | 36A/36K, about 33in | 37A/37K, about 33in | 39A/39K, about 33in |
How to tell which aircraft you are on
Look at the last economy row on the seat map. If it ends at row 42, you are on EI-DAA (266 seats). Row 43 is EI-DUO (273). Row 44 is EI-GEY (281). The total seat count, if your booking shows it, gives the same answer.
A second check: the mid-cabin lavatory block. On EI-DAA, rows 27 and 28 have only window pairs (A C and H K), because the lavatories take the centre. On EI-DUO the window-pair-only row is 29; on EI-GEY, row 31 has only the four centre seats.
Aer Lingus can swap aircraft after you book, including for one of its other A330-200s, so check the seat map again at online check-in.
Business: rows 2 to 6, the same on all three
Twenty-three lie-flat seats in a staggered 1-2-1 layout, with direct aisle access from every seat. On the left, every row has a single A seat, and all five are rated green. In the centre, D and G are also green on every row — except on EI-GEY, where 6D and 6G have a galley directly behind them. On the right, the layout alternates: rows 3 and 5 have a single K seat (both green, the best solo seats on that side), while rows 2, 4 and 6 have an H–K pair, a good choice for two people travelling together. On EI-GEY, 2K has a plugged window section beside it. One lavatory at the front serves the business cabin.
EI-DAA: 266 seats, economy rows 11 to 42
Best: the rear window pairs from row 31 to 41, with 36A and 36K at about 33in. 31A/K, 33A/K, 35A/K, 37A/K, 39A/K and 41A/K are all rated green, with the best-aligned windows on the aircraft.
Legroom: row 29 is the bulkhead behind the mid-cabin lavatories, at the L3/R3 doors. 29D to 29G have about 28in to the wall, and 29A and 29K have the door curving into the legroom. All of row 29 is in the lavatory queue and has no underseat storage. 12D to 12G have no seat directly in front, as row 11 has no F seat.
Avoid: 26D–26G and all of rows 27 and 28, which sit hard against the mid-cabin lavatories and are rated red. 11H and 11K have a lavatory directly ahead. 15A/15K have the window behind the seat.
EI-DUO: 273 seats, economy rows 11 to 43
Best: 37A and 37K at about 33in, and the window seats A and K on rows 32, 34, 36, 38 and 40, plus 42A, all rated green.
Legroom: row 30 is the bulkhead and door row here: 30A, 30C, 30H and 30K have extra legroom and open floor (30A and 30K with the door in the legroom), but the centre seats 30D–30G sit directly behind the lavatories and are rated red. Row 11 is just 11A and 11C, beside door 2.
Avoid: all of row 28 and 29A/29C/29H/29K, against the lavatory block. 12G, 12H and 12K have a lavatory directly ahead. At the back, 41H, 41K, 42G, 42H, 42K, 43E, 43G, 43H and 43K sit beside the rear lavatory, and 43H and 43K have only about 22–23in of pitch. 43K also has a plugged window beside it.
EI-GEY: 281 seats, economy rows 11 to 44
Best: 39A and 39K at about 33in, and the rear window pairs on rows 34, 36, 38 and 40. At the tail, where rows 41 to 44 narrow to 2-3-2, 41G and 42G have no seat beside them, giving you extra elbow room.
Legroom: 32A, 32C, 32H and 32K are the door-3 row, with extra legroom (the door curves into 32A and 32K), and 31D–31G are a centre bulkhead with a bassinet position. Both are rated yellow for lavatory traffic.
Avoid: 16A and 16K have no window, only a blank wall, and neither does 30A. Rows 43 and 44, all fourteen seats, are directly in front of the rear lavatory bank and rated red. 28G–28K and 29F–29K sit against the mid-cabin lavatory.
