Copa letters the four Business rows A B | E F, with B and E as the aisle seats. Ask for 2C and there is no such seat. This catches people out because almost every other 737 Business cabin runs A C | D F. Rows 1 to 4 are otherwise straightforward 2-2 recliners; row 1 has the extra room at the front and a partial bulkhead ahead of it.
EconomyExtra: four rows, one price, one that is worse
Copa sells 24 EconomyExtra seats across rows 5, 6, 7 and 8, marketed at 34" pitch — about three inches above the standard cabin. They do not all deliver it equally.
⚠️ Row 5 is the EconomyExtra row to skip
Row 5 is the economy bulkhead. The wall in front sits closer than a typical bulkhead, so the pitch on paper does not translate into room for your legs. There is no underseat storage, the tray table folds out of the armrest — which narrows the seat itself — and both 5A and 5F have misaligned windows. All six seats in row 5 rate poorly. Rows 6, 7 and 8 cost the same and are better in every respect.
The EconomyExtra rows ranked
- Row 6 — the pick. All six seats rate well, about 34" of usable pitch, no bulkhead penalty.
- Row 7 — as good as row 6 in the middle and aisle seats. 7A and 7F have misaligned windows.
- Row 8 — much the same. 8A is misaligned; 8F is fine.
- Row 5 — the bulkhead. Same price, materially less seat.
Economy jumps from row 11 to row 17
Rows 12 to 16 do not exist
The standard cabin runs 5 to 11, then continues at 17. There is no row 14 on this aircraft, and no row 12, 13, 15 or 16 either. A seat map offering you 13C is not showing you this aeroplane.
The exit rows
⚠️ Row 17 has the legroom. Row 18 has the legroom and the recline.
Both exit rows carry the extra space. Row 17 sits ahead of the second exit and has to keep the path clear, so it does not fully recline. Row 18 does. If you are choosing between them, take 18 — and if you are choosing between an exit row and row 6 in EconomyExtra, row 6 gives you similar space with a reclining seat and somewhere to put your bag.
Row 11 is the row to avoid outright. It sits ahead of the first exit, so it loses its recline, gains no extra legroom, and 11A and 11F have misaligned windows on top. It is the worst trade in the cabin.

Best
- 27A, 27F, 29A, 29F, 31A and 31F — the window seats where the glass sits squarely beside you. The best ordinary seats on the aircraft.
- Rows 20 to 25 — mid-cabin, clear of both the exits and the rear galley.
Worst
- Rows 33 and 34 — the rear lavatory bank. Row 34 backs onto the bulkhead, does not recline at all, and the middle seats also take the galley noise.
- Row 32 — one row ahead of the lavatories and inside the queue.
- Rows 19, 24 and 26 at A and F — misaligned windows.
