ANA Boeing 777-300ER Seat Selection Guide (2026)

ANA Boeing 777-300ER cabin

Updated 21 May 2026

ANA operates two long-haul configurations of the Boeing 777-300ER. Both seat 212 passengers and both carry four cabins, but the Business and First products are different — and so are the finer details of Premium Economy and Economy. Picking the right seat starts with knowing which version you're on.

Other 777-300ER layouts exist for selective and regional routes, but they are not used widely enough on international long-haul to be covered here.

This guide covers how to identify your version, the best and worst seats in every cabin, and the cabin quirks worth knowing before you book.

2. The Version Lottery

This is the single most important thing to check before choosing a seat. Both configurations carry the same 212 seats, but the cabins are not interchangeable.

Cabin Version 1 Version 2
FirstTHE Suite — 8 enclosed suites, sliding doorFirst Square — 8 high-walled suites, older design
BusinessTHE Room — Safran Fusio, 1-2-1 reverse herringbone with doors, rows 5–20Safran SkyLounge III — staggered 1-2-1, no doors, rows 5–21
Business pitch / width53.5" pitch · 35" wide48" pitch · 22" wide
Premium EconomyZim Magic, 18.7" wide, rows 25–2719.3" wide, rows 25–27
EconomyRecaro CL3710, 3-4-3 (10 abreast), rows 30–42Fixed-back shell, 2-4-3 (9 abreast), rows 30–42

Which is better? Version 1. THE Room is one of the most spacious Business seats flying — a genuine private room with a door, far ahead of the older staggered SkyLounge III on space and privacy. Version 1's Economy is a denser 3-4-3, but the cabin quality gap is decided in Business and First, where Version 1 wins clearly. If you have a choice of flights, pick the one operating Version 1.

3. How to Identify Your Version

You're on Version 1 (THE Room) if:

  • Business Class ends at Row 20
  • Business seats are reverse-herringbone pods with sliding privacy doors
  • Economy is 3-4-3 (a B and a J seat in every row)

You're on Version 2 (Staggered) if:

  • Business Class ends at Row 21
  • Business seats are staggered open pods with no doors
  • Economy is 2-4-3 (no B seat — the left side is a pair)

Premium Economy sits at Rows 25–27 in both versions.

5. First Class

Eight suites across two rows in a 1-1-1-1 layout, fully flat at 180°. There are no weak seats — every suite is enclosed and private.

Version 1 (THE Suite): JAMCO Serenity-based suites with a privacy door, personal closet and storage cubby, 34" wide. The centre D and G suites are separated by an adjustable partition — the pick for couples travelling together, who can lower the divider.

Version 2 (First Square): Older high-panel walled suites with a personal closet and under-ottoman storage, 33" wide. More enclosed by design and less couple-friendly than THE Suite.

Rows 1 and 2 are equivalent; choose by preference for being closer to the door (Row 1) or slightly further from galley activity (Row 2).

6. Business Class

Version 1 — THE Room (Rows 5–20)

Sixty-four Safran Fusio seats in a 1-2-1 reverse-herringbone layout, every one with a sliding privacy door and fully flat at 180°. This is a large, genuinely private seat — most of the cabin is excellent, so the job is mainly avoiding the few weak rows.

AvoidRow 6 (6C/6D/6H) and Row 17 (17A/17K)Directly beside lavatories; 6G and 17E/17F catch lavatory traffic

Note that the previous edition of this guide recommended Rows 7–15 A/K and told flyers to avoid Row 20 — that is the wrong way round. Row 20 is the best row in the cabin, while Row 7's window seats have a window issue.

Version 2 — Staggered SkyLounge III (Rows 5–21)

Sixty-eight Safran SkyLounge III seats in a staggered 1-2-1 layout — open pods with no door, fully flat, 48" pitch. In a staggered cabin, window seats alternate between "true window" (set away from the aisle, more private) and aisle-adjacent. Letters alternate by row: odd rows use A/D/F/H, even rows use C/E/G/K.

7. Premium Economy

Twenty-four seats in a 2-4-2 layout across Rows 25–27, 38" pitch, in both versions. Row 25 is the bulkhead row — extra legroom, but no underseat storage and a tray that stows in the armrest (so a slightly narrower seat). The two versions are not identical here: the seat and best-seat picks differ.

8. Economy

Rows 30–42 in both versions, 34" pitch — but the layout differs. Version 1 is a 10-abreast 3-4-3 (Recaro CL3710, 5" recline). Version 2 is a 9-abreast 2-4-3 (fixed-back shell seat, 3" recline) — the left side is a pair with no B seat.

Row 30 is the economy bulkhead row in both: extra legroom, no underseat storage, tray in the armrest.

11. FAQs

Does every ANA 777-300ER have THE Room?
No. Only Version 1 has THE Room. Version 2 still flies the older staggered SkyLounge III Business seat. Check before you book.

Does every version have First Class?
Both long-haul configurations covered here carry 8 First seats — THE Suite on Version 1, the older First Square on Version 2. ANA also flies 777-300ER variants without First Class that are not covered in this guide.

How do I tell which version I'm flying?
Business ending at Row 20 with doors, and a 3-4-3 Economy = Version 1 (THE Room). Business ending at Row 21 with open staggered pods, and a 2-4-3 Economy = Version 2.

Is Premium Economy identical on both versions?
Nearly — same rows (25–27), same 24-seat 2-4-2 layout and 38" pitch. But the seat differs slightly (18.7" wide on Version 1, 19.3" on Version 2) and the best-seat picks are not the same: Version 2 rates the entire bulkhead Row 25 highly, while Version 1's standouts are 25A/H/K.

Which Business seat should a couple book?
On either version, the two centre seats. On Version 1 (THE Room) the centre pair has an adjustable partition you can lower. On Version 2 the staggered centre pair sits naturally close together.

Where's the best Economy legroom?
Row 30 in both versions — the economy bulkhead row. On Version 2, the centre 30D–30G seats rate best of all.
