Air Canada A330-300 Seat Selection Guide (2026)
Air Canada's A330-300 has the widest gap between best and worst case of any aircraft in the fleet. On a refurbished frame you get a genuine lie-flat Signature Class suite with direct aisle access. On a legacy ex-Singapore frame there is no Business Class at all — the front cabin is a fifteen-year-old Singapore Airlines seat sold as Premium Economy.

The one thing the legacy aircraft does better: Economy pitch is 32" rather than 31", and the screens are larger (10.6" vs 8.9"). If you are flying Economy, the legacy aircraft is marginally the better ride.
How to tell which version you're on
- Look at the front cabin. 1-2-1 with letters A / D / G / K = refurbished. 2-2-2 labelled Premium Economy = legacy.
- Count the cabins. Three cabins = refurbished. Two = legacy.
- Check where Economy starts. Row 18 = refurbished. Row 6 = legacy.
- Route is a hint. Montreal–Algiers is the route most consistently flown by the two-class aircraft.
Signature Class — Refurbished Aircraft Only
32 Collins Aerospace Super Diamond seats in reverse herringbone across rows 1–8. Seat letters are A / D / G / K. There is no stagger — every row is identical. A and K angle toward the window; D and G form a centre pair angled toward each other. All 32 seats have direct aisle access, so there is no bad seat from an access point of view. 20" wide, 180° flat bed, 21" screen, 110V AC + USB-A + USB-C, no privacy door.
✅ Best: 4A, 4K, 5A, 5K — mid-cabin, two windows each, clear of both galleys. Best for couples: 4D + 4G or 5D + 5G — the A330 is the only Air Canada widebody where the centre divider actually lowers. Also good: 1A, 1K, 2A, 2K — two windows each and first off the aircraft.
🚫 Avoid: 3A and 3K — the windows do not line up with the seat. 8A and 8K — no window at all, just a solid wall (good for sleeping, bad for everything else). 6A, 6K, 7A and 7K are fine but have only one window each.
Premium Economy — Refurbished Aircraft Only
24 Collins Aerospace MiQ seats, 2-3-2, across rows 12–15. 38" pitch, 18.7" wide, 7" recline, leg rest, 4-way headrest, 8.9" screen.
Seat letters are A-C / D-E-G / H-K. There is no B, F or J on this aircraft — the only middle seat is E. Row 12 is a centre-only row: lavatories occupy the positions where 12A/12C and 12H/12K would be, so row 12 has just three seats — 12D, 12E and 12G.
✅ Best: 15A and 15K — window pair with no middle-seat neighbour, furthest from the forward lavatories and galley. Best aisles are 15C and 15H. For maximum legroom take 13H or 13K — the bulkhead is asymmetric at 32" on that side.
🚫 Avoid: 12D and 12G — the bulkhead is only 26" to the wall, tighter than a normal bulkhead, with a lavatory and galley directly ahead. 13A and 13C sit beside a constant lavatory queue. 14A, 14C and 14K remain within the queuing zone.
Economy — Refurbished Aircraft (Rows 18–48)
241 Collins Pinnacle seats, 2-4-2, 31" pitch. Letters are A-C / D-E-F-G / H-K — no B, no J; middle seats are E and F only. The 2-4-2 layout is the A330's biggest advantage over Air Canada's 787s: window passengers have exactly one neighbour, and two people together can book A+C or H+K with nobody else in the pair.
Two structural quirks: row 32 has no centre block (four lavatories sit where 32D–32G would be), and rows 46, 47 and 48 narrow to 2-3-2 with no F seat.
✅ Best: 35A and 35K — best window alignment in the cabin, clear of both lavatory banks. Best legroom: row 18 bulkhead (tray in armrest, no underseat storage) and 46D / 46G where the cabin narrows. Exit row: 33C and 33K — 33K has excellent window alignment.

30 Weber 7811 seats, 2-2-2. Seat letters are A-C / E-F / H-K — no B, D, G or J. This is original Singapore Airlines Business Class: 60" pitch, 19" wide, 15.4" screen. It reclines to 172°, which is angled-flat. On a daytime transatlantic crossing it is genuinely comfortable. On an overnight, you will slide.
✅ Best: 4A and 4K — best window alignment, furthest from the rear lavatory bank. Solo travellers should take the centre pairs 1E, 1F, 4E or 4F: each has its own aisle and nobody to climb over. Row 1 has bulkhead legroom, with the tray in the armrest narrowing the seat.
